Overview
Venire is a social calendar app. We collect the minimum data needed to make it work — your phone number to verify your identity, the profile and event information you choose to share, and basic usage data to keep the service running reliably.
We don't sell your data. We don't serve ads. We don't share your information with third parties except the infrastructure providers listed below that help us operate the app.
What We Collect
Account information. When you sign up, we collect your phone number to verify your identity via a one-time passcode. You then choose a username and display name. Bio and profile photo are optional.
Content you create. Events you create (title, description, date, location, visibility settings), RSVPs, follow relationships, group memberships, and messages sent through the app.
Usage data. Basic server logs, including request timestamps and error reports, used to diagnose issues and maintain service reliability. We do not build behavioral profiles from this data.
Device information. When you register for push notifications, your device push token is stored to deliver notifications you've opted into. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
Location. When you use Discover, your device's precise location is transmitted to our servers to find events near you. Location is used only to fulfill the request and is not stored or linked to your account.
Calendar. If you add an event to your device calendar, Venire writes that event using the calendar permission you grant. We never read your existing calendar contents — access is write-only.
Reports and flags. If you report or flag another user, we store the report — including your user ID, the reported user's ID, and any reason you provide — to review and take action on abuse.
How We Use It
- To create and maintain your account
- To show your plans to the followers you've chosen to share with
- To send notifications you've opted into (follow requests, event updates, group activity)
- To display nearby public events in Discover
- To diagnose bugs and keep the service running
We do not use your data to train machine learning models or share it for advertising purposes.
Your Content and Who Sees It
You control who can see each event you create through three visibility settings: Public (visible to anyone on Venire), Followers Only (visible only to approved followers), and Private (visible only to people you invite).
Your follower and following lists are visible on your profile. Your RSVP status on a public or followers-only event is visible to others who can see that event. Group membership is private by default — others can see that a group exists for an event, but not who is in it.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
Third-Party Services
Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, events, RSVPs, and messages are permanently deleted from our systems. Some anonymized usage logs may be retained for a short period for diagnostic purposes.
Your Rights
You can update your profile information at any time from the app. You can delete your account from Profile → Settings → Account → Delete Account — this permanently removes all of your data.
If you have questions about your data or would like to request a copy of the information we hold about you, contact us at the address below.
Children's Privacy
Venire is not intended for children under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you through the app before the changes take effect. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
